This High School Musical star gets candid with CosmoGirl as she talks about filming the third movie, her musical inspirations, and even admits to once being the proud owner of a Catwoman costume!

WHAT WAS IT LIKE SHOOTING HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL 3: SENIOR YEAR?

It really is our senior year — we’ve started our own kind of high school. It’s weird because we still go to the same spots that we went to on the first shoot. This is our home.

ARE THERE ANY SURPRISES IN THE PLOT OF THIS MOVIE?

There’s not necessarily anything that surprised me, but there were things that excited me. We’re still the same characters and all of that, but it’s the last chapter, it’s our last story ever. Some of the stuff that Kenny [Ortega] told us about the finale, I was just like, “Oh, my gosh, this is going to be so hard to shoot!”

IN TERMS OF YOUR OWN MUSIC, WHO ARE SOME OF YOUR MUSICAL INSPIRATIONS?

Celine Dion and Michael Jackson. Celine Dion was always around because of my parents. I’d take her CDs and sit down and read the little booklet with all the lyrics and sing her songs. I sang “Power of Love” so much when I was a kid. Right now, I’m such a hopeless romantic, and if it weren’t for her songs, I most likely wouldn’t be that way. I also loved “Everybody Dance Now.” That was my jam. I’d put on my Catwoman outfit and I’d bounce on my trampoline for hours upon hours listening to that song.

DO YOU EVER LISTEN TO YOUR OWN MUSIC?

When I first finished my last album, I actually had my CD in the car and was listening to it because I really liked it. I didn’t do that with my first album. I love the tempo of it and I loved what it was about.

HAS THERE EVER BEEN A ROLE YOU REALLY WANTED THAT YOU DIDN’T GET?

Remember the movie called The Nativity? I really wanted to do that. But I look back at it now and I’m like, “It wasn’t meant to be.” My first show that I ever did was at a Catholic preschool. Our show was the Nativity story and I sang “Away in a Manger.” I was Mother Mary and I held a little doll.
